So,
what exactly is remapping, or chipping, and what do Cartech
offer?
Modern
Vehicles rely more and more on microprocessor controlled Engine
management systems.
An array of sensors around your Engine feed an onboard computer
with very accurate information - including crankshaft position,
throttle opening, air flow and fuel injection timing.
This information is processed by the onboard computer (ECU) to give
the best performance under any given driving situation. The file
which orchestrates all this information is called a Map.
Vehicle manufactures use a one size fits all approach and the installed
Map takes into account many factors. Vehicles are distributed to
many different countries with varied climates, fuel may be of an
inferior quality and service routines may not be adhered to.
This
is where Cartech steps in. By reading your vehicle's map file, reworking
it and then uploading it back to your ECU, significant amounts of
extra torque and power can be released safely from your engine.
This gives smoother power take-up and low down power - sustained
right through the working range of your engine.
Because we actually use your own Map file, when its
written back to the ECU it is undetectable and therefore there are
no worries should your vehicle need to visit the Agent for warranty
issues etc.
All our files are TUV approved.
 Please
be aware that Cartech do not condone the use of “stock”
files which are offered on the internet. Our files are
100% guaranteed to be your own, reworked for your individual vehicle.
Furthermore, a backup copy of your original file is written to disc
and given to the customer on completion of the job. Should you wish
to return your vehicle to its original state this can be easily
done.
Before any remapping is carried out, a full diagnostic check is
carried out along with a printout to further assure you of a quality
upgrade. This is included in the price quoted and comes at no extra
cost.
Along with a remap, you may get a pleasant surprise in the form
of increased fuel consumption, although I’m sure I don’t
need to tell you that you don’t get anything for nothing and
this will depend on your driving style.
