Vehicle
Remapping - Frequently Asked Questions
Do
you cover the whole of the UK?
Yes.
We are a mobile, national organisation. We will carry out the work
at your own home. Ring us for a price. You've nothing
to lose!
What,
exactly, is remapping?
Information
regarding your throttle opening, air flow, crankshaft position and
fuel injection timing is processed by your car's onboard computer
(it's ECU). The file which orchestrates all this information is
called a Map.
By
reading your vehicle's map file, reworking it and then uploading
it back to your ECU, significant amounts of extra torque and power
can be released safely from your engine. This gives smoother power
take-up and low down power - sustained right through the working
range of your engine.
What
sort of improvement should I expect?
You not only gain improved bhp and torque
but elimination of flat spots, a more responsive engine and there
is even the possibility of improved fuel consumption.
What
is the difference between ECU chipping and remapping?
The
terms are generally interchangeable, although, literally, they have
different meanings; by chipping an ECU you have to remove the ECU
from the vehicle, dismantle the ECU and remove the chip. Re-mapping
is a much safer and easier method and does not usually require your
bonnet to be lifted. We simply connect to the diagnostic socket
and apply the modified software directly to the ECU.
Can
the work be reversed at a later date?
Yes.
All of our work is completely reversible at your request.
Does
remapping increase fuel consumption?
Not
necessarily. Much depends on your driving style, but many people
actually report improved fuel consumption
as their car reaches the desired speed earlier.
Will
the work affect my vehicle's warranty?
Remapping
is invisible. We do not modify any physical parts and, therefore,
the work will usually go undetected by most garages.
How
much does remapping cost?
Our
prices start from as little as £299.
Why
are vehicles not remapped by manufacturers as standard?
Manufacturers
ship their vehicles to many destination around the world. This means
that it will be driven in many different conditions - from cold
climates to blistering hot conditions. De-tuning could well prevent
damage to engines in extreme conditions.
Will
remapping affect my vehicle's emissions for the MOT?
No.
The vehicle will be fully compliant with MOT standards.
Do
you accpet credit card payments?
Yes, we accept
all major credit cards.
